Dorks of all Cities, Unite, Build Bots!

With around 50 cities worldwide running a franchise, dorkbot.org is a network of people doing strange things with electricity.

2004, Dorkbot-initiator Douglas Repetto took part in ROBĂ–XOTICA and I could see a great similarity in that Douglas, like we, was getting people of all backgrounds together for a robotic event and the robots were not at all about industrial efficiency but all about charms and humour.

Now last week our friends over at monochrom have opened the Vienna dorkbot offshoot to "create an informal, friendly environment in which people can talk about the work they're doing and to foster discussion about that work. ...
dorkbot isn't really a forum for formal artist talks or lectures, but rather a chance for diverse people to have friendly conversations about interesting ideas.
"

Reminds me to make everybody aware, ROBĂ–XOTICA has a mailing list too: send an e-mail to roboexotica-request@roboexotica.org with the subject "subscribe" to get frequent updates and discuss things cocktailrobotic.
